First, all five of the individuals who rejected the Vaulderie called by the Archbishop at a previous Esbat have participated in this Ritae with fellow sectmates of this city, and thus are no longer deemed Untrustworthy.
Now, it seems there is more then a little confusion about what in particular constitutes as violation of the Code of Milan, and how punishment is meted out. I am neither surprised nor dismayed that some of you lack this information, the war of late has taken it's toll and there are so many new faces with Ducti, Priests, and Sires falling in battle that it is understandable that some of you were not taught what you should know. That will be rectified however, and you WILL learn, and you will learn quickly.
Who are your leaders.
Bishops: Bishops directly oversee two or more Packs in an area, they are responsible for making sure that these packs are led appropriately, and can consequently appoint and remove Ducti and Priests.
Bishops lead the Packs under their command in Ritae, and against the enemies of the sect. Though this leadership can be delegated to appropriate Ducti, Priests, Templars or war leaders.
Bishop's can strip the protections of the Sect from a sectmate in response to serious violations of the Code. It is worth noting that this DOES NOT constitute a hunt.
A Bishop can set terms on which roving packs enter their jurisdiction, though they can not refuse passage to any pack that acknowledges their authority and participates in the Ritae. They can however restrict their ability to act independently while residing in the area.
What is an Archbishop.
An Archbishop rules a city or a small region. An Archbishop's job is to make sure the city continues functioning. No, not the food, an Archbishop's concern in the Cainites. Overly enthusiastic use of disciplines or displays of supernatural powers often warrant a punishment because they simply make things difficult. It's hard to eat when everyone huddles in their homes or runs screaming from any random stranger met on the street, as I am sure the recent curfew has taught you.
An Archbishop has all the rights responsibilities of the Bishops
Furthermore, the Archbishop appoints and removes Bishop's and any lower ranked positions (such as Ducti, Priests, or a Bishop's Templar) in the area.
An Archbishop may declare ANY sectmate within his jurisdiction Hunted, basically declaring that sectmate an enemy of the Sect.
An Archbishop is also responsible for maintaining the proper spirituality of the sect in their area, and monitor the Priests in the area to make sure that they are able to properly guide their packs.
A Cardinal or the Regent.
A Cardinal oversee's a large area including several territories and Archbishops. If you meet one, do every god damn thing they say.
Cardinals appoint and remove Archbishops from position.
The Regent is in charge of the Sect as a whole. If you meet him, do every god damn thing he says, maybe twice if you aren't confident of your first attempt.
Templars and the Priscus
Templars (sometimes refered to as Paladin's by those that are a little archaic) are the personal bodyguards and agents of the positions listed above.
They have the right to ignore orders from those below the rank of those that appointed them, as long as it is in the line of duty. Thus an Cardinal's Templar can ignore the orders of an Archbishop or Bishop. Obviously, doing so had best come with a damn good reason.
Prisci are the advisers of specific Archbishops, Cardinals, or to the Regent himself. The Prisci assist whoever they serve to make the most effective use of the tools at hand, including teaching young sectmates, and exploiting the weaknesses of our enemies.
Only a Pricsus can appoint or remove another Cainite from the position of Priscus.
Like the Templars, a Priscus can ignore an order given by those of lower rank then the one the Priscus serves, often without any explanation.
Who I am.
I'm Robert, I am a Templar as well as a Prisci to Archbishop William of Detroit, and by his command I serve as his voice with all the responsibilities of his position while he is busy serving elsewhere. While this is unusual, the Cardinality has seen fit to give him duties which preclude his full attention on Detroit.
I have served in more sieges then I care to recount at this time, and have been in more enemy territory then friendly over the last few decades. The welcome peace of the last few weeks has been something quite unusual for me. I'm not sure I like it, and thankfully I don't have to worry about it much longer. We are about to start taking serious action, maybe an all out war will burn some of that restless energy out of you.
And if it doesn't I'm sure you'll do something stupid and we'll mourn you appropriately.
Your Ducti all have a way to get in touch with me, and they are all free to share it. If you have questions or concerns, or are simply eager for action and don't know what to do, you are welcome to contact me, I'm always available.
