Below are the announcements/clarifications from the 04-02-10 game. If you have any comments/questions, please direct them to this thread in the complaints department, so that we can keep announcements threads on topic.

1) Each staff member has full authority on the scenes they are running, if you feel that they are doing something incorrect, or might not have all the information required, you are welcome to ask them to clarify or check with another staff member. Once the ruling has been made however, that decision stands for the scene. If you wish further clarification, or still disagree, you need to wait until after the scene is over and either speak with that staff member or another staff member then. You may NOT go to another staff member that is not running the scene for a ruling. Do NOT argue with the staff running a scene, arguing rarely gets the results you desire, and simply slows down the scene for everyone.
We want to be fair in all decisions, however we must also be timely, and scenes need to run smoothly for that to happen.
On the other hand, we are working to clarify with all staff how certain rules work, so that less mistakes are made on our end. To that end, here are a few rules clarifications.
2) First, when you send in experience expenditures via email, do NOT send us a grapevine data exchange file, simply send us the expenditures. We will NOT import player made exchange files into our database for existing characters, it only causes problems. New character submissions this way are fine however, as it will not overwrite any pre-existing data.
Furthermore, if your character has any custom made statistics, such as flaws, derangements, or the like, and you have not spoken to the staff recently about that specific item, be prepared to do so in the near future.
3) Rules Clarifications
a. Might may NOT be used in a retest for any normal ranged challenge, unless a MASSIVE item is thrown, such as a car, truck, or zamboni. It MAY NOT, be used with firearms. You are not gangsta enough to throw the bullets out of your gun harder.
b. We do NOT use the Dark Epics rules for firearms and their rate of fire. Firearms can be fired once per round without using the special abilities of Spray, or Full Auto, which follow their normal rules.
c. Negative traits on weapons (or any item) are public knowledge, and any player (or Staff member), may ask what the negative traits on your weapons are and you must tell them correctly. Negative traits for your CHARACTER, are still secret, do not tell people those, simply play them out like normal.
d. Arms of the Abyss may NOT move. They may not be attached to something else that you can move. You may not attach them to your body, and then move with them. Shadow Tentacles are spawned from shadow, the seam between light and dark which opens the way for the Abyss to spill into our realm, they may not be spawned from from lighted areas (obviously) or from complete darkness, thus they can not be spawned from within a Shroud of Night, or any other place with no light. They can however be spawned from the shadows caused AROUND a Shroud of Night, and casting darkness upon them after they exist does not dispel them.
e. Everything you have will be listed on your character sheets, if you feel that your character sheet is missing items, disciplines, rituals, or influence, bring it up to the staff after these announcements and we will get you squared away.
f. Temporary item cards. If you pick up a new item, a staff member will give you a card listing that items name, the date it was issued, any special rules for it, and an initial on EACH LINE ITEM of the card. These cards are ONLY good for the session in which it was made, you must turn it in at the end of the night so we can put it on your character sheet.
g. There are many flaws that within the scope of a LARP, have no discernable effect, and the game currently has a very high percentage of such flaws. We have decided that these flaws are no longer going to offer any character creation points when taken, though they may still be taken to give characters flavor. This IS a retroactive change, and players who are affected will either have to choose new flaws equaling the point total of the flaws removed, or gain an experience debt equal to the point cost of the flaw that must be paid off before any other expenditures are made.
i. Cannot embrace
ii. Cast no Reflection (remember folks, this isn’t a merit, it does not protect you against modern cameras)
iii. Flashbacks
iv. Flesh of the Corpse
v. Infertile Vitae
h. In an effort to assure that all influence and (written) downtime submissions are processed in a timely manner, influence and DT’s will take effect 7 days after they are submitted. So, if you submit an influence expenditures the Monday after game, they will be processed and “completed” by the next Monday. Your influence will still only refresh at the next game, and thus they may not be used twice in the same DT. This does NOT effect live DT’s, live DT’s happen either the day they are run, or when the staff feels appropriate (which will be worked out with the players at the scene). Message Board DT’s are considered live DT’s.
In the near future the staff is going to be implementing a Random Shit for players, this is when a random player is chosen by the staff and we screw with you. Usually this will mean taking your flaws and exploiting the shit out of them, sometimes however it will be a storyline that is going to intrude on your face like a brick.
Last but not least, we are ALWAYS open to suggestions that would make the game more fun for everyone, please let us know.
