I'm curious as to why Bonaparte is bitching about why we can't take out the Demon, when he has demonstrated his ability to take care of nearly any problem that he has faced so far. In fact, he was built to do so.
When a number of Cainites went to attack him the first time, not a single thing actually hit him. He was grabbed by tentacles, but they didn't do any damage. I hear he even got hit by a Zamboni, and it went through him.
So why are god NPCs bitching that we can't take out another god NPC? Why can't we just will 2 stupid, unnecessary plot devices out of the game? I mean, I know this isn't mage, but if we all go up to you guys and say that we think the whole situation is dumb, can't we just get rid of both of them?
Or can both of them just kill each other? Then we could have actual plots driven from actual PCs instead of STs making players dance like puppets on strings.

1. Bonaparte is not a God NPC, his a powerful physical and human based NPC. His design is to push stoyline and to protect his interest. Hince the bitching. I've also put it out there that Bonaparte doesn't know shit about magic, occult or other supernaturals. He knows what is infront of him and a bit down the line because he is good at guessing.
2. Every plot in game has been pushed by a PC with acception to the civil war. Inaction still pushes a plot. It has been an established rule that NPCs take actions regardless of PC action. If you do not stop the NPC doesn't mean it goes away it keeps comming and will own you.
3. If you want to kill an NPC you may try. Ask Hawthorne.
4. People have been investigating the Demon in game. There are players with the ability to stop him that chose not to. I do not make decisions for players I simply run cause and effect.
5. If you want to know how a zamboni went through him and it didn't hurt him I would investigate it.
I understand how it can be frustraiting for players to not beable to stop an NPC. I do not run games that everything is easy to beat. That wouldn't be fun. This game is designed to make people out think and out wit the others. When Mitch played Malek he did a damn good job covering most of his tracks. Not to mention I've put it out there since before first game that there is an NPC covering an hiding the demons tracks that nobody seemed to care about.
Why is Bonaparte bitching? Because he doesn't know how to beat it.
Why did Bonaparte find shit out to aid the city? Because since game 1 I have had his dt's include researching the other NPC.
This is how I run things. If you want to beat something than you need to track it, figure it out and beat it down. Everything in my game is beatable, it's just not easily done.
Thanks,
Vito

Okay,
Bonaparte: Yes, Bonaparte is annoying, and I think he gets used by the staff as a form of mental masturbation to lash out at people IC without RL consequences, but the juiciest thing about him is his influences. They don't cost xp to grow and they're only capped by the total number of physical, mental, and social traits that the user has when not buffed by anything. The rest is just some extra xp at half the ratio we get them. Assuming, of course, that the staff didn't lie to me, and I have no reason to think that they did. So unless the staff is pulling one over on us, then he shouldn't be that hard to get rid of if you are so inclined.
The Demon: I get wanting something that you can hit. I think bad memories about old larps from the past that had awful mass combats has made the staff hesitate to give us anything that lets us wail on worthwhile opponents in this game as much as we would like to. But the purpose of a demon threat (usually) is to find something specific that harms them. A banishing or warding ritual, a holy relic, some True Faith, or something that makes it solid so you CAN hit it.
These aren't (or at least shouldn't be) god npcs. They just require some enginuity to deal with. If you're worried that they're being used as pet npcs, just have scenes with them run by a staff member you feel confinent won't care about their survival and so won't have any chance of being biased.
(Note: I say that not because I'm specifically accusing any staff member of being biased, but because I've witnessed it happening in other games in the past. I've certainly been guilty of it, and I know others have been, too. Anyone who's gotten attached to an npc either as a hook or as a way to push a story plot that they reallyreallyREALLY want to happen will know where I'm coming from.)
I understand the desire to have plots driven by pcs, but right now we already have that. The mass combat we had last game was almost entirely pc driven. There are a few npcs involved, but the rest is all PCs.
The demon thing is something that has been running since the start of the game, and is clearly one of the game's current metaplots. The other one, the Civil War thing, has been resolved for now. The demon thing hasn't. Focus on finding a weakness, and eventually it will be solved and other major plots will come to the surface. Like the Cam thing, or the Setites or Giovanni or Samedi.
And there will always be pc plots. That's inevitable.

I have edited a couple posts to restore functionality of the anonymous presence that some would like when voicing their concerns. This was set up so players can freely express their concerns with the game without fear of reprisal, some choose not to use the account that was set up and that is perfectly fine. As staff we are respectful towards our players and our players should respect each other on this board. Any OOC flame wars that erupt should not make it onto this board as we take these concerns seriously.
We encourage you guys to voice your opinions, and appreciate it when you guys do. Afterall, you guys are part of this ongoing story that we are telling. Please just try and show each other respect when reading and addressing each other on the boards in the OOC sections.
